This yard became something completely new: a resort-style retreat designed for connection, relaxation, and everyday use.
What started as an empty outdoor space, is now one of the most versatile, family-friendly yards we’ve ever designed—complete with sunken seating, an oversized spa, a basketball court, and an outdoor kitchen built to serve a crowd.
It’s a resort-style retreat designed for connection, relaxation, and everyday use.
Here’s how we brought this yard to life for our clients.

Sunken Seating Area + Firepit
One of the first things you notice about this yard is the scale. It’s absolutely massive!
But, it still feels intentional and like you want to spend time in it. And one way we achieve this is by separating an outdoor space into smaller areas where you can gather and enjoy the yard.
This sunken seating area is a great example of that. It’s fully shaded on one side, and open on the other. But the fact that it’s at eye level with the pool creates this really cozy seating area that is so inviting.
This fire pit easily seats 30+ people and is perfectly placed between the pool, bar, and outdoor dining area. No matter where you are, you’re still part of the conversation.
Outdoor Kitchen + Covered Patio
Next to the seating area, we added a fully loaded kitchen and covered patio area. There’s a huge TV, grill, fridge, sink, ice maker, built-in bar with seating, and more.
And it all sits under a patio cover that’s decked out with fans to make daytime more comfortable. And built-in heaters so our clients can stay outside after it cools off in the evening. The whole thing really brings the indoors outside and creates this outdoor living space that’s versatile enough to use every day.
This is the kind of space that works for entertaining, hosting a ton of people. But it is also somewhere you can enjoy a slow morning with coffee outside.
Play Areas + Space to Grow
We added a modern playset as the focal point in the kid-friendly side of the yard. And while it’s a space our clients use all the time right now, it was also designed to evolve as the family grows.
Right next to it? There’s a full basketball court. This is one of our most requested features that we get from new clients. And we understand why! Adding a sports court to your space is a great way to give your kids a zone where they can have fun, invite their friends over, shoot hoops, play pickleball, or just run around.
The Spa, Rain Curtain + Swings
You can’t miss the spa in this space. It is massive – comfortably seating up to 20 people.
But we made it even more luxurious by adding a rain curtain to one side. This creates a soft barrier between the spa and the rest of the yard. And adds the element of running water. Both of which make it a space that feels serene and perfect for relaxing.
We also added swings. This is something we love to do when possible because it’s a playful way to add more seating and give someone the opportunity to interact with the water without getting into the pool.
