About Foxterra Design

Foxterra is a luxury focused pool and landscape design company, crafting hundreds of luxury residential yards; currently across 31 states and counting.

For more than 15 years, Justin worked as a licensed contractor, building luxury yards and pools. Over time, he began to question whether the design/build approach was truly giving his clients the best results.

Watching residential architects and interior designers creating beautiful, custom homes with thoughtful, detailed plans that were handed over to the contractor to build. Justin decided to apply the same approach to luxury yard design.

In 2019 he made a pivotal shift to build a company whose only focus was to create world-class pool and landscape design for their clients. Convincing his brother Nate to join in helping start the firm, Foxterra Design was created.

Foxterra is on a mission to make sure you don’t settle for a yard you just “like” but help you create a yard you love!

To bring this mission to life, Foxterra currently has a team of 25 full-time employees comprised of:

– Landscape architects
– Award winning designers
– Construction experts/previous contractors
– Horticultural experts
– Material Specialist
– Furniture Specialist
– Drafting team members

These dedicated experts craft every detail of the outdoor space. From layout and plant selection, to lighting, materials, and furniture, every element is meticulously planned.

what to expect

The Foxterra Design Process

1. Detailed Survey: We send a surveyor to your home to capture precise measurements and photos.

2. 3D Visualization: Using that survey, we use 3D software to recreate your existing property and design everything—down to the last detail—that way you can visualize your future outdoor space in its entirety.

3. Final Design & Plans: Once the design is approved, our production team uses Auto CAD and creates pages of detailed drawings, covering all aspects of the project.

4. Construction (two options)

A. Preferred Contractors: Since 2019, we’ve built a network of over 50 carefully vetted pool and landscape contractors across the US. For most locations in the US, we have a great contractor we will introduce to you. A contractor who is capable of building to our standards excellence and design detail.

B. Already Have a Contractor: If you already have a contractor you want to use; our plans are detailed and will have all the dimensions, elevations, materials, lighting, plants, and other callouts for your contractor to use.

Frequently Asked Questions

Great question, and a question that hundreds of our clients asked us before signing with us in the over 30 states (and counting) we have currently worked with them in!

Its true, our process is so different from the typical approach to landscape design.

The current standard for exterior design is that you find someone local who can both do both design and build.

But, here are 3 ways we deliver a superior design and build experience without being local.

1. We send someone on site to your house to get detailed measurements and a survey with photos of your location (or use a survey you already have) to recreate your house and surrounding environment in almost every detail using our 3D modeling software.

2. Using that 3D replica of your exterior space, we can now walk through the space virtually, seeing it from every angle possible.

We can show you the yard will look like being inside of your kitchen, living room, bedrooms, inside the pool, from an aerial view. Really all angles.

We superimpose property boundaries and setback to better help you visualize the areas where things can or can’t be done.

We geotag the exact location of your property so we can move the sun into its exact position showing what’s it like say, in June at 2pm and how it changes position in December.

We also draw your neighbor’s property, including where certain features on their home are located, where their windows are, etc. to ensure we find the best ways to create privacy in your yard.

3. We work closely with our Preferred Builder (a contractor near you that has gone through our validation process and/or completed past jobs for us). Our design team and their construction team meet to discuss feasibility of design and cost before showing you a finished design.  This way, we present a realistic a design that is buildable by the local contractor, along with their estimate to build out the design.

Foxterra Design started in 2019. It was created from the construction company that Justin started in 2007.

When you sign on to work with Foxterra Design, you get a dedicated team including a minimum of five people working on your dream yard.

A lead designer, planting expert, material expert, a production assistant, and a project director who all work together.

Whether you use our recommended Preferred Builder (a contractor near you that has gone through our validation process and/or completed past jobs for us) or another contractor you are familiar with, you get the best visibility into the range of  pricing when you have one fully developed design that you can send out to get bids on.

Since our plans have detailed Auto CAD drawings with pages of details beyond just the 3D renderings, contractors will have visibility into all the measurements, elevation drawings, materials, plant species, lighting layout, so that the bids you are receiving are all off the same design.

No more getting wide ranges of pricing with everyone pitching different design concepts with different price points for each design. Being able to compare apples to apples off a fully developed design done by a professional firm is the way you can determine the best contractor fit for you.

Great question!

Every design firm’s package is unique.

Here is what’s included when you work with Foxterra Design:

→ Recreation of your existing home’s exterior and property in 3D

→ Revised concepts based on your feedback from the original plan

→ Detailed Auto CAD drawings with materials, plants—plant types, location, species—lighting layout, measurements, and elevation drawings.

→ 3D images of your approved Concept Design

→ A Preferred Builder who will provide pricing to build your project

Budget varies depending on a variety of factors including where you live, what your climate is like, what your existing yard looks like, and more.

While there’s no standard “budget” for a yard transformation, many of our clients invest 10-20% of their home’s value in exterior design.

An exterior designer is someone who designs the entire outdoor experience. From the pool to the spa, water features, fire features, lighting, plants, furniture, and more.

And who takes inspiration from the clients interior aesthetic to create a cohesive experience from the inside – to the outside.
