Wait until you see the hidden spa in this backyard.
Our clients came to us with a completely blank slate. Their yard was this empty dirt lot. And they wanted their yard to be a place where they could go to escape. That would feel like they’re on vacation when they spend time outside.
But didn’t think there was much potential for their yard.
We gave them the outdoor space they’ve always wanted.
And, totally reimagined what was possible for their outdoor space.
This yard was inspired by two places our clients absolutely love—Tulum and Santorini. Mixing these two together truly created this resort. And we created a yard where they can feel like they’re being transported to a vacation destination every time they step outside.
The Private Island
This is the view our clients see when they look out from their family room into their backyard, so we knew this area of the yard needed to be especially special.
We created a focal point with a floating island that’s part fountain, part seating area, and part fire feature.
Having an infinity edge allows the water to ripple over. And the Moroccan tile adds a Santorini blue hue to the entire space, which especially stands out against the white tones of the rest of the yard. Adding some color elevates the entire space.
Even the outer edge is hand-chipped, to create an inviting, organic feeling.
And having a fire in the center draws you in and really allows you to engage with the space.
We finished the island feature with some stunning bean bags that add even more of that organic, natural element to the yard. And provide a cozy place to lounge.
The Pool
While the shape of this pool is standard, we integrated some impressive features within the pool and that’s what makes it interesting.
A lot of pools are just a one level, rectangle space. But having layers like the steps we added to the design, instantly makes it feel high end. And, then we were able to incorporate LED lighting along those levels, so the overall effect is a dynamic, really unique pool when it’s illuminated.
And, this Baja shelf is one of our favorite design features in the space. We used the same tile from the fountain, to tie in the Santorini blue with this area of the pool. And the entire area acts like a focal point that draws your eye in and makes this pool feel special.
Plus, we added a stunning tree, with hanging lights. It’s that touch of naturae plus a little magic sparkle from the lights reflecting onto the pool water that truly gives this pool WOW factor. Details like these make all the difference when you want your space to feel high end and liek a resort as opposed to just being a nice backyard.
The Lounge Area
The furniture in this yard really helps it feel even more like a resort. We created floating, oversized daybeds that are so luxurious. They’re like something you’d see at a super exclusive resort. You get to lounge with a gorgeous view of the entire yard, and it genuinely makes you feel like you’re on a vacation.
The fact that you’re surrounded by water makes it even more special, and the curtains flowing in the wind just add to the overall experience you get in this space.
We also added loungers to the turfed area of the yard – to create another resort-style seating area. Anytime you can add furniture on top of turf, you create a resort-worthy area in your yard. It’s one thing we recommend to our clients – especially if they have a limited budget but still want their yard to look luxurious.
The Outdoor Kitchen & Dining Area
If you’re like us, this is the outdoor kitchen of your dreams. This area here is so special because the California room was already there in our client’s yard. And we made it even more special by extending the space and giving them the ultimate outdoor kitchen and dining area.
They can prepare dishes and drinks, entertain their family and frieends, and have the perfect place to host outside.
This insanely long table brings everyone together, which is really important in any outdoor
experience. It’s the perfect combination of functional aspects and really stunning features.
There’s a pizza oven, cooler drawers, a massive grill to BBQ, and so much more in this outdoor kitchen.
The Hidden Spa
Our #1 favorite feature in this yard isn’t even visible when you’re enjoying the rest of the yard. And that’s because we created a hidden spa tucked behind a candle wall.
The entire thing is sp experiential and allows you to really discover all the incredible aspects of this yard as you enjoy and use it.
There’s a level of privacy and intimacy because we were able to hid this back here. And it’s just a really cozy space that’s unlike anything we’ve ever designed before. You get to kind of pull way from the rest of the yard and have this escape.
